Two Day Design Sprint
This was a solo two-day design sprint project in which I took on the responsibilities of researching, ideating, and prototyping the design of a food truck locator and ordering app, aiming to encourage people to discover and visit more food trucks around their area.
Firstly, I decided that I wanted to interview some people so I could get an idea of the public’s general experience with food trucks and the exploration of new places where they could eat. I wanted to learn more about what users might look for in the app. The questions I asked the interviewees were:

1. What is your general experience with food trucks? Why?
2. How do you usually explore new food trucks or restaurants in a new area?
3. What things do you keep in mind or look for in a food truck or restaurant when choosing where to explore next?
4. When ordering from a food truck, which ordering method would you prefer? To order on a mobile device and pick it up once the order is ready? Or to order at the truck and place your order there? Is there any other method that you use and prefer? I interviewed four people with different financial standings, allergies/dietary restrictions, food preferences, and experiences with food trucks.

After the interviews, I used Figjam to divide and cluster their answers based on patterns I noticed in an affinity map. (If you want to take a closer look at the Figjam, click here)
The findings from the interviews and the mapping of their answers are as follows:

1. All four interviewees look for new eating spots online, mostly using Google.
2. Two out of four people pay attention to ratings and reviews left by past customers when deciding to visit a place.
3. Three out of four people consider price, type of food, and menu when deciding where to eat.
4. Three out of four people prefer to order their food in person rather than ordering online.
5. Two out of four people have difficulty finding food trucks near them.
6. Two out of four people have concerns about the cleanliness of the food in food trucks.

Based on the above findings, I believe that the high-priority features/experiences (priority 0) needed in the application are:

1. The app should have a feature that allows users to easily find food trucks around an area of their liking, either their current location or a location they set.
2. The app should allow users to check and filter food truck options based on their price range and cuisine.
3. The app should enable users to search for a food truck, order in person, and/or order online for pick-up.
4. Food truck profiles should have customer reviews available for users to read and write if they wish.

Building on the insights from interviews and the affinity map, I brainstormed and created a low-fidelity wireframe of what the main screens of the app would look like to get a clear idea of the desired user experience.

As the final step for my sprint, I used Figma to create a design system and high-fidelity prototype of the app. Click here to take a look and interact with it!
Although that is all I did for my two-day design sprint, I would like to conduct user testing and interviews to assess the usability of the app. After going through testing, I would conduct more research and create additional possible iterations for the app.
